I found this at Tiggerlane's -
I don't understand how I can be Dorky, yet not be a nerd....because in MY definition of Nerd, Dorkiness is the #1 description. And, I figured that being a Scientist, Nerd was part of the criteria. Have there ever been any cool Scientists?
In High School I was never called "Nerd" by anyone (to my face anyway) and I never considered myself in the Nerdy group. I don't know what clique I fit into. I never did. I think I was in that group called "Other" in school; unable to categorize.
I was shy and avoided social situations. I watched from the sidelines and wished I could have been more athletic and popular. I never attended any parties, but in Spanish class I could always count on Rosie and Kathy to fill me in on what they did Saturday night. They were both cheerleaders and always seemed happy to see me.
I was smart so hung out with the other kids in Advanced Placement English and Calculus. But, we didn't talk about our school work or math problems. We discussed the usual; boys, pimples, weekend plans, Def Leppard, and the latest gossip. We all aspired to attend college and years later I found out Beckie and Sara became a couple. That surprised me, but then yet, it didn't, because Beckie liked to wrestle during sleepovers.
I didn't date the boys in my friendship circle. Instead I pined for the older popular boys roaming the campus. I was secretly in love with Mark, that uber-cool gorgeous Senior. He spoke to me on many occasions. I remember melting after our chats but always kept it together during them.
Growing up in a small town I thought I knew my entire graduating class. I was surprised to see kids standing in line for the ceremony that I had never seen in my life. I was even more shocked when at the Senior party afterwards, one fellow student came up to me to wish me well. I didn't even know his name.
I was friends with Cheerleaders, brainiacs, uber-cool guys, and nerds. But what did that make me? I don't know. I never knew where I fit in during High School. I suppose that's why I'm so glad I went to college and then grew up. Slightly Dorky Non-Nerd - I can live with that.
I took it.
I'm a Cool Nerd King.
Bow before me.

Oh no! You weren't one of those kids who was really good a calculus were you? Say it ain't so! Say it ain't so!
Because I was one of those kids. Man those kids were arrogant!

You just described my high school years (except for liking boys of course).

Dorky is more to do with social interaction, whereas nerdiness is more to do with academic accomplishment.

I've always found those high school movies kind of baffling, because my high school experience was kind of like yours. I don't think any of my friends fit into those clear cut categories Hollywood seems to think are so much a part of high school. But then again, like you, I grew up in a small town so my experience might have been different from people in the city.

Hey, I've got you beat--I'm an Uber-Dorky Non-Nerd, LOL.
I didn't fit in anywhere in High School. I was in that "other" category. Too bad we didn't go to HS together ;)

I got "Cool Non-Nerd". I would disagree with that - when have I ever been a non-nerd? Hm.

I'm 'kind of dorky non-nerd' when I was at school I don't think those categories were even invented!

I'm the same thing as Melissa (Hi Melissa!)... I'm glad it didn't ask any questions about aversion to typos....

Now I'm tempted to take the test, just to see. I saw it over at Tiggerlane's blog too.
I was in the death-rock/bad kid crowd. But I never felt I belonged in any one group.

I haven't taken the test yet, but I just wanted to say that I have never wrestled with other girls at sleepovers - boys maybe...girls, no. I just wanted to say that for the record - now I am off to take the test.

Willowtree was joking about the not liking boys part. That was part of his experience too.
I am only a "Light-Weight Nerd"
