Okay folks - this weekend is the Great Backyard Bird Count here in the US and Canada. It's easy and fun!
It only takes 15 minutes a day to sit and count up the bird types you see. Simply count the greatest number of a species seen at one sitting. Last year I spent the weekend counting birds and came up with 11 species visiting my backyard, (yes, I even counted the dang Starlings). You can count from the backyard or take a nature hike and count the birds seen in a Nature Reserve or a local park. It's a good thing for the entire family...both educational and fun.
And for those of you who'd rather do something with a creative approach, Ian at E-dog's Everything Page has a contest going. He is looking for people to submit some fan art for his Lego comic: the Adventures of the S-Team. So, if you can think cleverly, give it a shot.
And finally - a reminder about Fun Monday (hosted by yours truly, me): This week is to pick an object that has special meaning to your heart and tell us all about it. Examples include a family heirloom or a special gift. And if you want to be included - leave me a comment or email me: karhix at yahoo dot com.
Must be nice to be a "homemaker," Karmyr. :)

Bird counting - sounds like fun. Not sure if I'll be able to make the time, but I like it. I don't think cleverly, but thanks for the heads up on the other contest too. I'm still thinking about Fun Monday - not sure what I have that might qualify. I'll let you know if I come up with something.

I gotta start thinking about Monday today or I'll never get it up...
Hmmmm, I wonder if I'd know all the different birds in our yard...robins I know ;).

If I were a man I might make some rude, sexist joke about bird watching, but I'm not so I won't.
I'm like Robin, I only recognise robins, seagulls and doves(?).

Maybe I can get Mandy & Curlymop in the yard to count with me.
Oh... Buttercup made tears come to my eyes when she asked me to come to her house.. sniff

Hey, Karmyn! Thanks for the plug!
For anyone who needs the link to the webcomic itself, it's here.
We just get robins around here mostly, but not this time of year.

I love bird watching...just never thought about counting them. Will you contact theHansMan and tell him that you have ordered me to do this?
I'm in for Monday.
