March 19, 2010 past with little fanfare. I played with the kids outside, took pictures of our new bunnies, and thought about my blog. I thought about all the posts I had written over the past four years. I thought about the really clever posts and even the really dumb ones too. Four years of blogging? That's pretty darn special.
Yes, so special that I decided to do something momentous.
I turned my blog into a book.
Surprised?
I am converting each year into a book, starting with 2006. There it is - my very first blog post turned into paper; something to hold.
Blurb is the website/company that turns anything into a book. I logged on, downloaded my blog and then edited the look and feel. (WORD OF ADVICE: Carefully edit the book and read through the posts. Occasionally pieces of the posts were deleted during the download. I found that any post containing pictures mid-way in my stories lost content. I needed to cut and paste quite a bit for some posts.) Also, I removed posts that were "tags and junk" or those I considered superfluous.
So how does it feel being published?
I'll let you know when the royalty checks start flowing in....um.... (if only I hadn't labeled this book as "private" on Blurb.)
