Due to bad weather traumatizing the Northwest, we were destined to have a very quiet Christmas. I was a bit sad and wandered the house feeling a little lost. We've never celebrated this holiday without some family around. It didn't feel right.
Christmas Eve at our house is also known as Dave's birthday. That morning, we woke to sunshine and as we sang Happy Birthday an idea grew in Dave's head. At 11am he was out the door and pulling away from our driveway headed North to pick up my sister, her man, and Curly Mop. It takes roughly 90 minutes to drive from our house to Portland (depending on the traffic along Interstate 5). A 3 hour round trip under the best of conditions.
Six hours later, Dave came home delivering the best present of all....family for Christmas.
The roads weren't too bad, but he did get stuck behind a convoy of plows. And he made one unscheduled stop to drop off a young college student who was stuck at the gas station without a ride home for the Holidays. And he did avoid a Semi-truck that was sliding across the on-ramp, (and a pedestrian near Amanda's house).
So, when Robin asked in her last post if anyone had experienced generosity this Christmas, I immediately thought of my husband....my wonderful husband who spent his birthday driving all day so our Christmas wouldn't be so quiet anymore.
THANKS DAVE - You are the best.

DAVE is a WINNER! Yay!!!
