Julie is hosting today's event - she dared us all to pose our BEST SPY PICTURE.
Yes, I like to spy. I admit it. I am a great "people watcher" and the littlest things drive my mind to wonder. Just yesterday I was eating dinner with friends at a fairly fancy restaurant in Portland. A very young (high school) couple took the outside seating next to our window. I watched and wondered if it was their first date and if the boy was now regretting taking this girl to a place where the lowest priced dish was $16.
When we finished our meal and walked through the affluent neighborhood I spotted a heavily tattooed couple leaving a very nice house with their baby. They hopped inside their Audi Q7 and prepared to drive away. I wondered what they did for a living to be able to afford that house and car. In my mind, heavily tattooed couples normally don't make a lot of cash. I imagined they might actually have been computer geeks trying to trick the mainstream by covering themselves with ink. Or else they inherited a bunch of money.
As I walked the Portland streets yesterday, I saw many more great spy opportunities. But, I didn't have my camera, which I really regretted and I started to sweat a bit about Fun Monday. I didn't have a good Spy Picture....and here were all these great sights I was missing out on. And then, as we neared the parking garage I spotted Whole Foods Market. Immediately, I thought of Beccy and her flapjacks and the sweet Golden Nectar of the Gods that was sitting in my cupboard.
AHA! MY SPY Picture!!! I remembered one.....
I don't know if it is considered TRUE spying if done on your own family, but I am calling it good. When I went to visit the grandparents briefly during Spring Break, I did a bit of spying in Pamela's kitchen. She had been to visit a few weeks earlier and tried the flapjacks. Both mom and dad were delighted and wondered where they could buy Golden Syrup. I told them and on their way home they stopped to get a jar.
Well, folks - it wasn't just ONE jar that they bought - hee hee....I spied and found out exactly how many jars they bought......
They had purchased 3 jars. I just thought it was funny and had to take a picture. I spied in the cupboards - and caught them!!! Believe me - besides the Fancy Cut French Beans and Golden Syrup there wasn't much else in there.
So - it's not that great of a spy picture, but it still counts.
I have to remember to take my camera with me everywhere I go - so I can sneak shots of first dates, heavily tattooed couples, and men who wear skirts (but that is a story for another time).
