I am just getting ready to leave for my weekend retreat. Here are some concerns I have about our world that I thought I'd share.....
Global Warming. I am frustrated that the Bush Administration is downplaying this. It is crucial that our government take action and steps NOW. Relaxing environmental regulations is not a step in the right direction. Bush has failed our environment. Also, the auto industry and government need to developm a plan to make Electric and Hybrid cars more cost effective for the average consumer. Sure Ed Beagley Jr. and Leonardo DiCaprio can afford them, but can the rest of us? The answer is no. Oil is money, electricity is not.
Tensions with Iran. I am scared to death that Iran could gain nuclear power. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Revelations state that the end of the world will begin with a worldwide Holy War? Well, Iran could threaten it and the U.S. will step in and start it.
MUMPS I know that my children have been vaccinated. I'm not worried about them, but what about me and my husband? How long does an MMR vaccination last you? Tetanus shots are due every 10 years. What about measles vaccines? I don't want to get the mumps.
TICKLE MONSTER. I hope my husband plays this game frequently this weekend and can handle our children on his own. My daughter has been the sweetest girl this morning. She told me, "Mommy, you're so pretty." And then she gave me the biggest kiss and hug and whispered in my ear, "I love you." That makes it hard to leave. Yesterday was another story. I could have left easy. She was a crank monster. My dad has a nickname for her "Sweet 'n Sour". This is what she is. I know that my son will be fine. He is five and adores his dad. He will be an angel for his father. My daughter, on the other hand, will test his limits, push his buttons, and demand attention to the extreme. I know my husband can handle it, but I still worry.
My grandmother took in worrying for a living. That is a saying from my mother. She does it too. I'm not a huge worrier....it doesn't put me into a state. I don't think my mother worried as much when she was younger either. It grows on you like age. The older you get, the more you worry. So, global warming, war with Iran - please don't happen. I'm getting older and there will be more to worry about later. I don't need you now.
